WELCOME MESSAGE
Dear Colleagues,
We are proud to announce that the Fourth Kuwait Hemophilia Awareness Day will be held on the 1st, February 2025. We are focusing on the different innovative treatments in managing hemophilia patients for health care providers.
We realize that a child’s diagnosis with a bleeding disorder including hemophilia is life changing in its effect on both the child and the parents, who face a future of managing bleeding risk while trying to provide a child and its sibling with a normal life as possible. Counselling parents with newly diagnosed bleeding disorder will be one of the focus aspects in this event.
Women with bleeding disorders suffer from multiple bleeding symptoms, however these patients in particular suffer from gynecologic and obstetric bleeding. These bleeding often are not recognized as abnormal, and many women are left undiagnosed. We will be addressing the burden of the disease for women with bleeding disorders and discuss the barriers facing women in achieving an accurate bleeding disorder diagnosis.
In the context of hemophilia being a rare congenital bleeding disorder; We realize the importance of raising awareness of other congenital bleeding disorders. Our experts will be raising awareness of some disorders like Von Willebrand disease (VWD), Bernard-Soulier syndrome (BSS), and Glanzmann’s thrombasthenia (GT).
Similar to what we did in the previous years we will conduct the event in an interactive way aiming to deliver information in question-and-answer format. The questions are going to be addressed to selected local experts who will be addressing most frequently asked questions by the audience. Last but not least, we realize the importance of having face to face interaction through arranging different booths each will be handled by different experts in the field of hemophilia and other bleeding disorders. We will be offering a chance of direct discussions, tackling practical aspects in hemophilia care like how to self-inject factor and how to take care of central line. Add on offering different written and audiovisual educational materials.
Best regards,

Dr. Ali Mulla-Ali
Chairperson
Director of National Bank of Kuwait Specialized Hospital for Children
