Dr. Maroun Karam
Dr Maroun Karam is Professor of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at Lebanese American University (LAU) and Director of Nuclear Medicine at LAU/ Rizk Hospital. He is also a nuclear medicine physician at St George Hospital/St Georges University, Beirut. He has returned to Lebanon in 2013 after 34 years in the USA. His immediate past position was Director of Nuclear Medicine and Professor of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at Albany Medical College, Albany NY
Dr Karam is American Board Certified in Internal Medicine and in Nuclear Medicine and he has a 20 year experience in interpreting PET/CT studies. He was the President of the Nuclear Oncology Council of the Society of Nuclear Medicine between 2009 and 2011
Dr Karam is the author of over 60 peer reviewed publications in all aspects of Clinical Nuclear Medicine as well as several book chapters. He is also a sought after public speaker and has delivered numerous talks at major national and International meetings and continues to do so.
Despite the adverse Lebanese circumstances he continues to be active in clinical research. The abstract he presented at the Annual meeting of the SNMMI in June 2023 about PSMA PET has received the award for best international abstract from the SNMMI
