Mr. Donal Melanaphy

Donal Melanaphy is the Regional Business Development Manager for Human Predictive Genomics at Thermo Fisher Scientific. In this role, Donal is dedicated to facilitating the transition of predictive genomics from research settings into practical applications.

Based in Dubai, Donal's journey with the genomics industry began in 2015 when he joined Affymetrix as a Field Application Scientist. Following the acquisition of Affymetrix by Thermo Fisher Scientific, Donal has undertaken various roles providing support to microarray customers across the region. His contributions have been pivotal in advancing a diverse range of projects, particularly in the areas of reproductive health and human population genomics.

Before his tenure at Affymetrix, Donal pursued an academic career, culminating in a PhD in Vascular Biology from Queen’s University, Belfast. His doctoral research focused on the characterization of ion channels in vascular tissues, employing both molecular biology and functional techniques to uncover new insights in the field.
